The news that Chrissie Wellington has had surgery on her wrist is something of a shock, but probably not as much as it was for her coming off the bike in the first place.

Chrissie, a smiling heroine for many triathletes, as always managed to find a silver lining to the cloud, announcing in her blog that she will be in the UK for the TCR Show and the 220 Triathlon Awards dinner in February.

The three-time Ironman World Champion is made of tough stuff, so no doubt she will not be out of action for long.

It makes the 'turbo prison' that we have been enduring throughout this cold snap more appealing, that is for sure.
